Grandad Tom, what can I say? A true gentleman, who always looked smart even in his 90s. I will cherish our little conversations we use to have when I jumped in nanny’s chair when she wasn’t looking, the numerous times you would poke fun and say all sorts of offensive comments about my fully grown beard at 18 years old! It still makes me laugh to this day! Tom and Jill, despite their quirks, were amazing grandparents and always looked after both James and I, picking us up from primary school, feeding us endless biscuits and bitter lemon drinks till our hearts desired, and not forgetting the sweetie jars which were always stocked up ahead of us making an entry. Spoiled much? Yes, and we loved it. I must also mention the cheeky couple of pounds nanny used to smuggle to us without Tom knowing, sorry Tom! There was one other family member who Tom absolutely adored though.... she was slightly different from the rest, a big chunky, a bit hairy, and had a tendency to lick him A LOT... Amber. Tom and Amber had a special bond, which was probably because of the treats in his pocket he used to feed her. Tom would always ask after Amber and you could see the joy they both brought each other, when Amber was jumping all over him, often making him nearly fall over. It’s so sad that you’ve gone, but I’m sure you’re happy to be with nanny again. Rest well, grandad... Wills x
